Job Description
Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Packaging Supervisor – Weekend Shift, for the Guelph, ON site. This is a permanent full-time position.
Working independently, but reviewing appropriately with colleagues and management, the Packaging Supervisor performs all responsibilities necessary to provide oversight to the safe production of high-quality products. This includes: ensuring operators are performing work safely, ensuring the highest possible quality of the products being packaged, ensuring equipment is well maintained, properly set-up & adjusted for packaging, ensuring adherence to all company policies & procedures, and ensuring a high level of productivity across the operation. The Supervisor is expected to coach and provide constructive feedback to the staff they are leading to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement. Supervisors foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment by leading by example. Finally, the Supervisor will to lead projects and partner with staff cross-functionally to improve quality and execute the production schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance – Safety, GMP, Facilities
- Takes necessary action to eliminate and immediately address safety hazards. Communicate any observed unsafe behaviors immediately.
- Seek prompt identification, reporting and correction of deviations in the workplace as noted by employees.
- Addresses GEMBA audit findings, supports non-conformance investigations, and implements corrective/preventative actions for compliance issues.
- Responsible for ensuring all areas and processes are maintained/performed in a compliant and safe manner in accordance with SOPs and GMPs.
- Understands safety concerns and promotes a safety conscience culture for their job function.
- Supports and/or leads EHS&S programs as assigned.
- Supports control of precursor material as an ARPIC.
Training
- Ensure that all department personnel are trained, and their training is maintained in a compliant state relevant to their position.
- Partners with the Business Unit Manager and departmental trainers to develop an agile and capable workforce.
- Ensures that Compliance Wire and competency-based training is completed on-time.
Documentation Management
- Approve SOPs, technical reports, and relevant quality documentation.
- Is a Subject Matter Expert with responsibility for review and sign-off of relevant documentation
- Edits documentation (i.e. SOPs, OJTs and OWRWs) as assigned
- Document all activities per the GMP requirements.
JJPS, Continuous Improvement
- Completes Johnson & Johnson Production System (JJPS) training. Ensures that the team actively participates in related initiatives, performs work according to established best practices, and meets performance standards in all areas.
- Actively identifies areas for improvement which will improve: safety, equipment reliability, reduce cycle-times, or reduce non-conformances.
- Acts as a champion for JJPS methodology and application of Lean concepts in work area. Supports the team in identification of opportunities and application of lean concepts and methodology.
- Drives the implementation of continuous improvement actions, root cause problem solving and Kaizen events.
Leadership
- Responsible for all aspects of performance management for their teams by applying J&J’s 5-Conversations model, coaching, performance-improvement plans and progressive discipline.
- Provides resources and support to direct reports to ensure that they can execute successfully and in a compliant manner.
- Supports strategic and tactical plans in alignment with site's mission and plans.
- Assists management through change management and transformation activities.
- Builds relationships with business partners and stakeholders.
- Acts as a mentor and coach for high potential direct reports.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering or related field is preferred.
- Will also accept a Diploma plus 3+ years relevant experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a regulated (GMP) environment.
- Strong computer literacy. Knowledge of shop floor systems is an asset. (SAP, SmartBatch, Apogee).
- Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality Systems.
