We are currently seeking motivated individuals who are looking to become S.U.E. Technicians. Prior S.U.E. experience is not necessary as successful candidates will receive comprehensive training.
Responsibilities
Tierra is looking for a self-motivated individual who is eager to learn new skills and join our Subsurface Utility Engineering team.
• The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the correct, safe and efficient designing of underground utilities. These investigations will be completed in the field and you will be mapping unground utilities (water, gas, hydro, telecom, etc.)
• Operate equipment, including electromagnetic equipment, ground penetrative radar (GPR), and more.
• Provide accurate documentation and/or sketches with measurements using an electronic drawing tool for the requested work area.
• Coordinate and communicate with engineers
• Actively work toward obtaining the skills in the certification program required for advancement
• Communicate regularly with Crew Chief and Field Project Manager to ensure expectations and project tasks are met.
• Ensure that project tasks and data collection are completed with high quality, accuracy, and thoroughness to meet regulatory requirements of the company and client
• Operate equipment with safety and quality practices to maintain a safe work environment
• Mark buried utility locations and communicate relevant information to excavation personnel or other appropriate authorities.
Training & Qualifications:
• We invest in you! Tierra sponsors a full training program via CUTI at no charge to successful applicants prior to their employment start dates, as long as they commit to one season of work
• Successful applicants must have a willingness to learn and participate in the mandatory training program (6 weeks), paid practicum for 3 months, and full-time work commitment for 3 months (total commitment ~7 months)
• Those who complete training but DO NOT commit to work will be responsible for reimbursement of training fees.
• Minimum education requirement includes Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including:
o Grade 12 English, or equivalent
• Ability to distinguish between colours for marked utilities
• Ability to carry up to 15 pounds
• Intermediate computer skills
• Team player with positive attitude
• Valid driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract (minimum G2 level, but G is preferred)
• Willingness to undergo criminal background checks, drug tests, etc.
• Willing to follow ever changing COVID-19 protocols
