Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible to layout, fit and fabricate our custom designed industrial equipment to required specifications. This position may include opportunities for international travel to customer sites to install, commission, upgrade or repair industrial equipment. You will interact and collaborate with all departments, including our in house engineering and machine shop in order to design and build our custom machinery.
Key Duties Include*
- Layout, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural frames and machinery using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy and engineering requirements.
- Read, analyze and interpret mechanical drawings
- Recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the trade
- Weld components using either SMAW or GMAW in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead)
- Work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
- Evaluating equipment performance and providing proposals for improvement
- Support Engineering using your mechanical experience to resolve customer issues
- Participate in Pre/Post-Design reviews.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Preference given to those experienced in machine building and installation
- Ability to work extra hours to ensure a successful project when required
- Self-motivated, driven individual who is organized, demonstrates good problem-solving skills and can manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven experience as a welder/fitter in a similar industry/product
- Ability to work to close tolerances
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to use personal protective equipment
- Strong math, communication and problem solving skills
- Positive attitude and able to work in teams
- Deftness and attention to detail
- Able to work after hours and weekends when required
- Occasional travel may be required
