Financial Analyst – Mississauga, ON
The Financial Analyst will report directly to the Controller in Mississauga, ON.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly financial information for the plant which includes reconciliation of all G/L accounts and Month end Activities includes but not limited to Inventory Reconciliation, Closing J/E’s, Manage Accruals, Third Party inventory reconciliation, Scrap Analysis reports, KPI’s, Metal Report, Payroll JE’s etc.
- Completes all the monthly and quarterly reporting required by HQ.
- Performs detailed analysis of monthly variances and works with management team to resolve any issues identified
- Prepares monthly and quarterly forecasts, and assist the controller with yearly budgets
- Assists in the analysis of customer profitability. This will include some delivery/transportation cost analysis by customer. This will extend to full “profitability by sales mix” analysis.
- Identifies costs saving opportunities and reports to Controller/Plant Manager
- Freight cost analysis, Actual versus expectations
- Analysis of overtime of hourly employees by department and of salaried by department in hours and dollars
- Develops capital expenditure justifications, reviews subsequent evaluation of savings and ensures all costs associated are appropriately recorded. Also track and chart performance of capital improvements against projected expectations.
- Support A/P and A/R functions
- Liaise with other locations relating to inter-company transactions
- Other duties - as required
Key requirements
Work Experience
1-3 years related experience
Education
Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
Functional Knowledge
- General knowledge of accounting/finance principles and procedures
- Experience reconciling and analyzing financial data
- Professionalism and good organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems
- Strong organization and time management skills
Technical Knowledge
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Intermediate level Excel required)
