Job Description

Under supervision of the Maintenance Manager, the role is responsible for installation and maintenance of electrical, control, measurement and communication systems; supporting procedure and documentation systems. This position performs in accordance with the Maintenance Excellence Plan (MEP), Safety, Environment, and Regulatory Requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance of medium voltage and high electrical equipment and process control equipment.
  • Recommends and installs new equipment under the guidance of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Operations facility maintenance including inspection and repair of facilities determines and initiates adjustments or repairs as required.
  • Involved in completing critical and non-critical PM’s, tests reliability and accuracy of process equipment, determines and initiates adjustments or repairs as required.
  • On-call support for daily operations Corrective Maintenance (CM) Work Orders.
  • Assist in developing Calibration Program for Instrumentation equipment
  • Demonstrates visible safety leadership in inspection, identification, and response to daily operations safety issues.

Qualifications

  • Electrician – Industrial Electrician (442A)
  • 4-5 years related work experience in heavy industrial and process environments; preference will be given to those with experience in steelmaking and mining environments
  • Competent and comfortable working with high voltage switchgear and equipment, preference will be given to those who have experience and are trained in high voltage maintenance and safe work practices including voltages 5kV, 25kV and 44kV.
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with motor control systems and troubleshooting
  • Experience working with large motors, valves, actuators and instrumentation including but not limited to pressure transmitters, densitometers and turbine meters.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC’s and how they integrate into control systems, knowledge and experience working with Profibus is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing
  • Basic Knowledge of SCADA applications and industrial communication protocols.
