Overview of Position:
Working as a member of the team the Drywaller will install prefinished drywall, which is glued and fastened to the studs, then finish with batten to cover the joints and corners, no sanding, no taping, no mudding. If there is no drywall to install the position would work under the Finishing Carpenters assisting with installing tongue and groove pine ceilings, pine trim, pre-finished drywall trims and any other finishing work required. Other duties may be assigned as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Prefinished drywall, glued and fastened to the studs, using a prefinished batten to cover the joints and corners. No sanding, no taping, no mudding.
- Measure, cut, fit, and install the prefinished drywall sheets.
- Measures and marks cutting lines on framing, drywall, and trim, using tape measure, straightedge or square, and marking devices.
- Installs batt insulation between studs and tacks plastic moisture barrier over insulation.
- Take care of finished drywall surface while installing, making sure not to scuff or scratch sheets and keep clean.
- Reads blueprints and other specifications to determine method of installation, work procedures, and material and tool requirements.
- Cuts openings into board for electrical outlets, windows, vents, or fixtures, using keyhole saw or other cutting tools.
- Ensures that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements.
- Ensures that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of equipment is cleaned up.
- Provides feedback to supervisor regarding customer problems or delivery problems.
- Adheres to workplace safety policies and regulations.
- Accurate completion of work orders and timecards.
- Reports equipment defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the equipment.
- Communicates effectively with the public, customers, and co-workers both verbally and in written form.
- Refrains from using drugs and or alcohol or prescribed medications causing drowsiness prior to reporting for work, or decline work based on these conditions.
Preferred Qualifications (What you will contribute to the Cobra team / Experience or Certification):
- 3 years' experience as a Drywaller.
- Knowledge of construction equipment safety.
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.
