Overview of Position:
Cobra Enterprises is hiring a finishing carpenter who will be responsible for the finishing carpentry of modular homes. The successful candidate will be a skilled professional who is responsible for the final touches on our homes after the structure is fully built. They must carry out various tasks such as installing doors, adding trim to windows and doors, and many other finishing carpentry jobs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installing windows
- Install exterior and interior doors
- Install Tong & Grove pine ceilings
- Install prefinished vinyl wrapped drywall and battens
- Install cabinets/ laminate counter tops
- Install bathroom and door hardware components
- Install pine casing around windows and doors
- Frame and drywall bulkheads
- Flooring installation
- Reading blueprints and detailed specs
- Operating and maintaining carpentry tools and equipment
- Keeping a daily log of tasks
- Contributing and participating in the effective use of the Quality Control System
- Performing other related duties, including minor duties of other trades where certification is not required, and the work does not exceed own limitations
- Understanding and complying with all Policies and Procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a carpenter/framer
- Currently working in the trade
- Knowledge of carpentry and building maintenance
- Knowledge of finishing material installations
- Knowledge of workplace safety, safe lifting, handling procedures, safe operation of basic hand and power tools, and operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to read building specifications, blueprints, and as-builds
- Ability to do layouts, framing, finishing of typical projects
- Ability to draw appropriate sketches to communicate details to team members, and others
Minimum or Other Qualifications:
- Flooring installation is an asset but not required
- Effective verbal and listening communications skills
- Time management skills
- Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material, labor estimates, and to interpret job cost reports
- Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision
- Collaborative in dealing with customers and fellow employees
- Ability to make suggestions for improvement
- Proactive in ensuring job knowledge is current
- Respect diversity — treat others with respect
- Ability to communicate effectively with lead-hand, co-workers, and customers
Work conditions:
Ability to lift 75+ lbs, required safety equipment, hazards associated with the trade, working with tools and lumber, work both indoors and outdoors, construction sites, noise, irregular hours.
