ABOUT THE COLLEGE OF KINESIOLOGISTS OF ONTARIO
The College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO) is the provincial regulatory body mandated by legislation to protect the public by ensuring that kinesiologists operating in the province are qualified, ethical, competent, and accountable.
The Role
The College is seeking an experienced administrative professional to provide ongoing support for its Professional Conduct processes from intake to assisting with College hearings.
Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Financial Services, you will:
- Coordinate all active intake files and prioritize based on risk.
- Using knowledge of legislation, College processes and frameworks, and the practice of kinesiology, perform an evaluation of each intake to determine what information is required to satisfy the complaint criteria or determine if there are reasonable and probable grounds to initiate a Registrar's Investigation.
- Identify registrant(s), using knowledge of legislation, Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics and policies and guidelines relevant to kinesiology practice.
- When appropriate, counsel stakeholders with respect to discrepancies, misunderstandings, processes, and kinesiology practice information via telephone calls or custom written correspondence.
- Participate in preparing intake data/statistics/reports for reporting to the Executive Team. Review monthly, quarterly and annual statistic reports and analysis of metrics and make recommendations, where appropriate to the Conduct Operations Lead and Registrar.
- Objectively provide relevant and helpful information to stakeholders regarding the College’s complaints and investigation processes, promoting transparency and education.
- Independently and collaboratively examine work processes and explore opportunities for improving efficiencies through technology, elimination or altering of work processes on an ongoing basis and make recommendations to the Conduct Operations Lead and or Registrar.
- Act as the College’s Hearings Officer for discipline hearings.
Your Skills and Experience
- Post-secondary training in a relevant field strongly preferred.
- At least 3+ years’ experience in a similar administrative role.
- Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of the Regulated Health Profession Act is an asset.
- Experience in a regulatory or legal environment – familiarity with basic legal terms and processes.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the practice of kinesiology
- Experience and comfort with dealing with the public over sensitive issues.
- Experience in accurately recording, analyzing and reporting data
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong problem-solving and advanced organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, apply critical thinking skills and to consistently exercise sound judgment
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Ability to work independently and to perform effectively as a member of a team
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
- Professional writing skills – reports and correspondence
- Comfort in taking responsibility and carrying out duties with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in MS Office, and particularly Excel. High level of comfort learning new computer applications and working with databases.
- Fluency in French and/or other languages is considered an asset.
