Position Rational:
Reporting to a Foreman, a Gas Fuser performs fusions on gas pipe and provides a full installation cycle of gas facilities, such as, but are not limited to the following: install and complete all main line connections including fittings, installing all service punch tees, competing tracer wire connections, pressure testing completed main. In addition, this position is responsible for submitting test documentation and ensuring proper documentation for as-builts. A Gas Fuser will provide support to crews installing gas main, tracer wire, and placing them online.
Position Responsibilities:
- Measure and stake the gas line in the proper locations.
- Ensure that all tees are installed tested, tracer wire installed, and staked correctly.
- Ensure that all deviations from line assignment, changes in fitting location, or requirements are documented for as-built records.
- Complete all required pressure testing of ATCO facilities and submit all approved test documentation at the end of the project; communicate with ATCO inspectors on-site.
- Load, unload, and move construction materials around the worksite; ensuring the worksite is organized and free of clutter, rubble, and garbage.
Technical Knowledge:
- Ability to complete live gas tie-ins safely and professionally as per ATCO requirements.
- Show an understanding and familiarization of all ATCO required work procedures.
- Certified Atco fuser up to 8” for both pipe and tee is a requirement.
- Demonstrate understanding and the ability to interpret ATCO gas prints.
Work Environment/Conditions:
- Overtime as required.
- Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
Qualifications & Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
- Minimum of 1 – 2 years of Gas Fusing experience.
- ATCO Gas Fusion certification is required.
- Experience with outdoor construction labor and heavy equipment operation are considered an asset.
- Class 5 Driver’s License; clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Physical ability to repetitively lift and carry at least 40 lbs. regularly.
- Demonstrate professionalism.

- Sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location: Must reside in Calgary or the surrounding area for the duration of the season.
