Annis O’Sullivan Vollebekk (AOV) is a privately-owned, independent, multi-disciplined Professional Land Surveying firm based in the Ottawa area, offering clientele a wide range of services in topographic, hydrographic, cadastral, geodetic and engineering surveys. In addition to providing a full range of land development consulting services, including severances, subdivision design & layouts, and condominiums projects, AOV also plays a key role in creating strata-ownership and easement limits for multi-use developments and the local LRT initiative.

Primary Purpose
The OLS relies on their Geomatics education and experience to direct field and office staff on various Land Surveying projects. They are actively involved at each stage of the survey process to ensure success, and are responsible for accurate final check and approval of survey plans. They communicate directly with clients, providing information and resolutions. They mentor junior staff and support continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage Projects as Ontario Land Surveyor
· Convey a sense of urgency internally and externally to drive issues to closure
· Focus on achieving agreed upon commitments
· Direct field and office staff on various project needs to develop project specific plans and documents
· Produce work plans in which objectives are clearly defined and steps for achieving them are well detailed for project crews to follow
· Analyze deeds, plans and other documentary information and compare with field survey data to determine the location of property boundaries and ownership
· Research historical documents to resolve title issues
· Conduct detailed and accurate final checks of survey plans. Approve and sign plans that have been checked and meet AOV and client standards.
· Respect budget constraints
· Participate in all other office tasks to support the company as requested
Client Relations
· Act as a point of contact for clients to discuss project status
· Anticipate client needs and respond within a timely manner to each inquiry
· Resolve issues by listening to concerns and providing information. Escalate concerns to Senior Management as required
· Prepare job estimates and proposals
· Develop your network of contacts to develop business
Provide guidance to AOV teams
· Provide guidance to field crews
· Provide guidance and train field staff in the use of equipment and data processing software
· Provide guidance on AOV technical standards aspects to Draftspersons and CAD technicians
· Support knowledge transfer throughout organization
Continuous Improvement
· Actively participate in continuous professional development throughout the course of employment
· Support a culture of continuous improvement at AOV through communication of ideas and involvement in initiatives.
All employees of AOV are expected to follow health and safety policy, procedures and work practices at all times. Employees are also responsible for the completion of all health and safety training, as assigned. Employees with staff supervision and/or management responsibilities will ensure that assigned staff abide by the above, and actively identify, assess and correct health and safety hazards, as required
Required Qualifications:
Education and Designations
· Degree or diploma in Geomatics or equivalent
· Member of the Association for Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS) in good standing
· Accredited Ontario Land Surveyors License (OLS)
Experience
· Experience working in various field and technical roles obtained throughout Articling process
· Experience with AutoCAD, MicroSurvey and/or Coordinate Geometry Software
· Experience with conducting detailed and accurate plan checks to identify any errors or omissions
· At least one year of experience in a similar role (an asset)
