Position: Registered Nurse – Full-Time/Part-Time Positions Available

Position Summary: The Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral and valued member of the Wiigwas Elders and Seniors Care resident care team. The RN provides, oversees, and manages the care of residents following the guiding principles and standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario. The RN advocates for quality of life for the residents by modelling leadership, ethics, advocacy, and excellence in the assessment process ensuring safe resident-focused experience. The RN actively leads and contributes to Wiigwas Elders and Seniors Care team meetings, committees, care planning, and resident Care Conferences.
Overview of Duties:
Ø Develops individualized resident-focused plans of care and Care Plans.
Ø Liaises with the Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care team, including other health care providers and allied care professionals, family, and visitors to provide and promote excellence in resident care and the resident experience.
Ø Provides leadership and director to the direct care of staff.
Ø Administers medications and treatments as prescribed within the RN scope of practice.
Ø Documents all care, assessments, and observations per the homes documentation policy.
Ø Mentors, supports, and encourages newly hired nurses, PSW’s and students.
Ø Positively role-models RN and Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care Values and Codes of Ethics.
Ø Assumes responsibility for the homes, staff, and residents in the absence of the Director of Resident Care.
Ø Communicates changes in resident status and/or care to all members of Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care team.
Ø Assumes the role of Charge Nurse as assigned.
Ø Is familiar with the Long-Term Care Home Act (2007) and Regulations.

Qualifications:
Ø Current unrestrictive RN Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses on Ontario.
Ø Current Professional Liability Protection per CNO requirements.
Ø 2-Step TB Test of Chest X-Ray within 14 days prior to date of hire.
Ø Police Vulnerable Sector Check dates no later than 6 months from date of hire.
Ø Up-to-Date Immunization Record.
Ø Current First-Aid and CPR-HCP.
Ø Demonstrated knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control Routine and Additional Practices.
Ø Demonstrated knowledge of Protection of Personal Health Information Act.
Ø Excellent leadership, organization, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and computer skills.
Ø Fluent in both written and spoken English.
Ø Knowledge of First Nations history, language and Culture and asset.
Ø Completion of recognition of Gerontology, Palliative Care and IPAC considered an asset.
Ø Proof of Full-Covid 19 Vaccination and Influenza Vaccination.
